The brief

Why hotels with a pool, why here

Hotels with a pool in Napier are a smart choice for travellers who want a proper break between coastal walks and Hawke’s Bay days out. Napier’s most “pool-friendly” base is the foreshore area along Marine Parade, a scenic esplanade running along the waterfront and home to major attractions including the Ocean Spa saltwater pool complex and the National Aquarium of New Zealand. It’s also the neighbourhood where you’re close to the iconic Art Deco sightseeing strip and the waterfront ambience of the city.

A second great place to stay is around Oaklands, particularly if you prefer a calmer neighbourhood feel while still having straightforward access to the city’s dining, beaches and day trips.

Genuinely pool-equipped hotels here suit families who want an easy activity on site, couples planning a relaxed coastal itinerary, and guests who appreciate facilities that make travel weather-proof. Look for hotels where the pool is a real amenity—not just a token feature—paired with comfortable rooms and good access to local attractions, so days out don’t end at check-in.

For example, among our bookable options, Cobden Garden (5★) and The Grange Lodge (5★) suit travellers wanting a higher-end, stay-in-and-unwind experience, while Hidden Gem in Oaklands (4★) works well for those balancing comfort with a quieter base. Lower categories in our inventory can also be a good fit when value is the priority, such as Gardner Court Motel (2★) and Motel de la Mer (3★).
