Baoding hotels like a local.
Baoding gives you Qing-dynasty politics, classical gardens, donkey-meat huoshao and serious Hebei day trips, all within rail reach of Beijing.

About Baoding
Baoding sits in central Hebei, about 140 km from Beijing’s city centre, with strong links to the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region. For travellers, splits neatly between the old-city cluster around Ancient Lotus Pond, the Zhili Governor-General’s Office and old streets, and larger trips out to Western Qing Tombs, Baishi Mountain, Yesanpo and Baiyangdian wetlands. It’s a practical, lower-key Chinese city rather than an international resort town, so you’ll get more from it if you’re comfortable using translation apps, mobile payments and taxis or DiDi.
