1. Choose your Jiading base by purpose, not by the district name alone: Nanxiang for food, Jiading Old Town for heritage, Jiading New City for newer hotels and theatres, Anting for motorsport, and Jiangqiao for Hongqiao access.
2. Check whether your Line 11 train goes to North Jiading or Huaqiao, as the line has a Y-shaped service pattern.
3. For old Jiading, bundle Zhouqiao Old Street, Fahua Pagoda, Jiading Confucian Temple and Qiuxia Garden into one heritage half-day on foot.
4. Set up payments before arrival. Shanghai’s official guidance says foreign visitors can use Alipay, WeChat Pay or Weixin Pay with overseas credit cards, and metro stations have POS machines for foreign bank cards.
