Why stay near Neon Museum Las Vegas
The Neon Museum Las Vegas is an outdoor museum in Downtown Las Vegas that preserves original neon signs from casinos, hotels, and local businesses across the city. People come for a focused look at how Las Vegas grew and marketed itself, told through full‑scale signage rather than exhibits behind glass. The defining feature is the Neon Boneyard: a nearly two‑acre outdoor yard where more than 200 rescued signs are displayed chronologically. You’re not looking at replicas—these are the actual signs that once lit the Strip and Fremont Street, explained with clear historical context, especially compelling after dark.
About Neon Museum Las Vegas
The Neon Museum was established in 1996 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to preserve neon signage as a form of art and historical record tied closely to Las Vegas’ development. What began as a preservation effort became a public museum located at 770 Las Vegas Boulevard North in Downtown Las Vegas. The visitor center is the restored lobby of the La Concha Motel, a mid‑century modern structure relocated to the site after being saved from demolition.
The main experience is outdoors in the Neon Boneyard, where unrestored and restored signs from properties such as Caesars Palace, Stardust, Moulin Rouge, and the Golden Nugget are displayed. Interpretation focuses on design, fabrication, and cultural context rather than spectacle. The museum also operates the North Gallery, home to Brilliant! Jackpot, a 45‑minute audiovisual show that uses projection and sound to digitally re‑illuminate around 40 historic signs without altering the originals.
