- Base your first stay in Haishu or Jiangbei unless you specifically want a resort break. Tianyi Square, Moon Lake, Tianyi Pavilion, Nantang Old Street and the Old Bund give you the densest first-visit circuit.
- Do the Old Bund after dark and Tianyi Pavilion in the morning. The waterfront’s bars and restaurants make most sense at night, while the library gardens are better before peak midday crowds.
