Portofino Tower was developed by The Related Group and delivered in 1997, well before most of the luxury residential buildings that now define the South of Fifth area. At the time, this part of Miami Beach had not yet become a clearly defined residential enclave. The tower helped shift the area away from a nightlife-only identity toward long-term waterfront living.
