Understanding taxes and fees

Check the checkout summary for the amount payable to PriceRoom and any separate charges payable at the property. Tax and fee rules vary by destination, property, dates and guest eligibility.

Included and Separately Payable Charges

Taxes or fees included in the room rate form part of the amount payable to PriceRoom. Other charges, such as a local tourist tax or resort fee, may be collected by the hotel. The booking summary distinguishes them where that information is available.

A local charge may be an estimate. The final amount can depend on factors such as age, number of guests, length of stay or an exemption. If a charge is unknown, do not assume it is zero. Ask the property about uncertain charges before booking.

Optional Extras and Deposits

Breakfast, parking, transfers, pet fees and other extras are included only if the selected rate explicitly says so. A hotel may also request a deposit or incidental hold. Confirm those requirements with the hotel.

Compare the Full Cost

Compare the same room, dates, occupancy, meals and cancellation terms. Add separately payable charges to your budget. Do not assume that every tax is itemised individually or that the rules of one city apply elsewhere.

Receipts and Refunds

For a formal invoice for payments to PriceRoom, contact support. Request a receipt from the hotel for money it collected. VAT treatment and invoice details depend on the transaction.

Refunds depend on the booking's cancellation terms and the payments collected. Review the cancellation quote; do not assume that cancellation always returns every tax or fee.
