Yixing is a county-level city under Wuxi in southern Jiangsu, where Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui meet. You come for pottery first: the city has more than 7,000 years of ceramic history and is closely tied to zisha purple-clay teapot craftsmanship. It also works well as a slow countryside break, with eight national 4A scenic spots, bamboo forests, caves, lakes, wetlands, tea plantations and a growing resort scene around Yangxian.
