왜 스키 호텔이고, 왜 이곳일까
Ski hotels in Amden make a great base for winter breaks in the St. Gallen Alps, where the local ski area sits above Lake Walensee. Amden’s ski offering totals around 20 kilometres of slopes across two areas—Mattstock (directly above the village) and Arvenbüel—served by six lifts, with skiing typically between 931 m and 1684 m.
Staying in or near the village centre of Amden puts you closest to the lifts and the pedestrian-friendly feel of town, while areas around Lake Walensee suit guests who want evening downtime with views after a day on the slopes.
These ski hotels are best for skiers and families looking for simple, convenient access—think ski-to-lift or short transfer times, plus on-site dining and warm hospitality—rather than ultra-luxury facilities. For example, Hotel Schäfli Amden positions itself as a practical base with convenient access to the Mattstock lift zone. Hotel Arvenbüel and Schwendihaus also suit guests prioritising location and value. Meanwhile, AmdenLodge - Bienenheim Naturhostel works well for groups and budget-focused travellers who want a calmer setting above Amden with a more hostel-style stay.
