Waarom Hotels om te wandelen, en waarom hier
Hotels for hiking in Assisi are best chosen for easy access to walking routes, a calm setting, and a practical base for rest between outings. In this part of Umbria, that usually means properties with a countryside feel, straightforward access by car, and a location that suits both early starts and relaxed returns after a day on foot. The best options are not necessarily the most formal; they are the ones that make it simple to get out into the hills, come back without fuss, and sleep well before the next walk.
This kind of stay suits walkers who want more than a bed for the night. It works well for couples, solo travellers, and anyone planning a short break built around gentle hikes, longer rambling days, or a mix of walking and sightseeing. Assisi itself has a compact, historic character, so a good hiking hotel here often balances access to the town with a quieter setting nearby. That is where places such as Agriturismo Le Colombe, Tenuta San Masseo, Le Ginestre Assisi, and Agriturismo La Castellana can fit the brief, alongside smaller stays like B&B a Casa Tua, B&B Il Sentiero di Assisi, and Casa Rosa.
In practice, the strongest hotels for hiking in Assisi combine comfort, good guest feedback, and a location that supports time outdoors rather than distracting from it. That makes them a sensible choice for travellers who want a walking-focused stay without giving up ease and comfort.

Which area is best to stay in for hiking?
The best area is usually on the edge of Assisi or in the surrounding countryside, where it is easier to reach walking routes and enjoy a calmer atmosphere. A central stay can suit sightseeing, but it is less ideal if hiking is the main focus.
