Guilin sits in northeast Guangxi and works best as a 3–5 night nature-and-town trip. You can spend one or two nights in the city for Elephant Trunk Hill, Reed Flute Cave, Seven Star Park and the Two Rivers & Four Lakes area, then move on to Yangshuo for cycling, river scenery and West Street, or add Longji for rice-terrace walks. The city’s tourism identity is built around karst scenery, especially the Li River cruise route towards Yangshuo and Elephant Trunk Hill at the meeting of the Li and Taohua rivers.
