Neden burada kalmalı — Corniche Doha
Corniche Doha is a seven‑kilometre public waterfront promenade curving around Doha Bay, linking the old city in the south to West Bay’s business district in the north. Locals and visitors come to walk, jog, picnic, and photograph the skyline, but also to move easily between major museums, parks, and neighbourhoods on foot. It’s less a single sight than a continuous route that shows how Doha fits together. The most distinctive thing about it is how many of the city’s landmarks line one uninterrupted seafront path, from the Museum of Islamic Art and its park at the southern end to the Sheraton area and towers of West Bay at the northern end.
Hakkında — Corniche Doha
Development of the Corniche began in the late 1960s as part of Doha’s modernization following oil discovery, with construction carried out in stages as the city expanded. Before redevelopment, this shoreline was used by fishermen and pearl divers, and the bay was lined with wooden dhows. Today, the Corniche functions at several levels at once: it is a seafront road, a pedestrian promenade, and a civic gathering space. National events such as Qatar National Day parades and National Sports Day activities are held here. Walking it, you pass dhow harbours, government buildings, lawns used for cycling and picnics, and long open views across the bay. The route also connects key districts, including Msheireb, Al Jasrah, and Souq Waqif, directly to West Bay. Seven Doha Metro stations lie within walking distance of different sections, reinforcing its role as a central spine of the city.
