为什么住在小石川后乐园附近
Koishikawa Kōrakuen Gardens is one of Tokyo’s oldest surviving landscape gardens, created in the early Edo period beside what’s now Tokyo Dome City. You visit for a slow, circular walk around a large central pond, following paths designed to reveal a sequence of carefully framed scenes inspired by famous places in Japan and China. The garden feels deliberately removed from the city once you pass the gate. Its single most distinctive feature is Engetsu‑kyō (Full Moon Bridge), a stone arch positioned so its reflection forms an almost perfect circle on still water, a clear nod to Chinese garden design.
关于小石川后乐园
Construction of Koishikawa Kōrakuen began in 1629 as part of the Edo residence of Tokugawa Yorifusa, founder of the Mito branch of the Tokugawa clan. The garden was completed by his son, Tokugawa Mitsukuni, with strong input from Zhu Shunshui, a Confucian scholar from Ming‑dynasty China. That influence is visible throughout, from the symbolic landscapes to the philosophical ideas behind the design. The name “Kōrakuen” comes from a Chinese text arguing that rulers should take pleasure only after securing the people’s welfare. Today, the site holds the rare dual designation of Special Historic Site and Special Place of Scenic Beauty under Japanese cultural heritage law. What you actually experience is a classic strolling garden: winding paths, artificial hills, and Daisensui Pond, modeled on Lake Biwa. Miniature scenes reference places such as China’s West Lake and Mt. Lushan, and there’s even a small rice paddy that’s still planted each year, originally meant to teach agricultural values.
