Die 8 besten Berghotels in Ellmau

Mountain hotels in Ellmau suit travellers who want the Alps close at hand, with easy access to scenic surroundings, fresh air and a stay that feels rooted in the landscape. In practice, that means hotels that work well for mountain breaks rather than just being located in a resort town: comfortable rooms, a peaceful setting, and a base that supports hiking, skiing or simply slowing the pace. In Ellmau, that can range from classic hotels with full-service facilities to smaller guest-favourite stays and self-catering options, depending on how independent you want your trip to be.

This kind of hotel is ideal for couples, families and active holidaymakers who value views, outdoor access and a relaxed atmosphere. It also suits winter visitors looking for a practical base near the slopes, as well as summer guests planning walks and longer days in the mountains. Properties such as Kaiserhof Superior, Haus Sonnwend, Hotel der Bär and AktivHotel Hochfilzer show the range available, from higher-end stays to well-rated mid-range options, while Appartement Fuchs offers more space for those who prefer an apartment-style stay.

Ellmau itself has the feel of a mountain destination that is easy to settle into, with a choice of hotels that generally balance comfort, location and access to the outdoors. The best mountain hotels here are not only about style or star rating, but about how well they support a mountain holiday in all seasons.
